Cherokee County Department of Social Services (DSS) will be hosting their
2nd annual Back-to-School Community Resource Event this summer, on Friday August 7th, 2026 at Rock Solid Community Church in Gaffney South Carolina. The goal of our back-to-school community resource event is simply to bring our community partners together to meet the needs of the families in our community! We accomplished this last year as 20 local community partners gave not only school supplies, but clothing items, personal hygiene items, bedding, and other important items that families need to have a successful school year! Some providers did fun things like face paint or served snow cones and popcorn! Additionally, some providers were set up as information booths and gave out brochures about their services. This allowed us to serve 71 households and 164 children!
